When I first read Joe Vitale's book, "The Attractor Factor", I made a commitment to learn it chapter by chapter, page by page and word by word. I read it over and over several times. I bought the audio version and listened to it costantly, whenever I was in the car, at home with free time, even when out and about with my mp3 player.
It wasn't long before I knew I had to dig deeper into the clearing part as feelings of anxiety and doubt would almost overwhelm me at times when I would start doing some of the exercises about making intentions or setting goals. As Joe said when he wanted his first car.....he got a tremendous headache until he started to unravel the strings of negative beliefs and doubts.
While listening to Joe and the unraveling each piece of string, I was thinking of a baseball as a kid when we used to unwind the strings whenever a cover would come off.
When I first started the process of getting clear, I dove into it headfirst. Nothing that Joe had mentioned was working. I went back to the book and looked up the chapters dealing with clearing and found several names of folks that helped him. Bill Ferguson was one, and since he lived here in Houston, I bought his book "Healing The Hurts That Sabotage Your Life". I then bought the audio version and again, listened and learned. Each time I listened, It became more and more apparent that I had some deep feelings that I needed to uncover. After about 6 months of pulling one string after another, I had pulled enough to cover a large softball. I signed up to go to Bill's "Return To The Heart" Seminar to see if I could get in touch with my deepest fears and doubts. Again, more layers of strings but still I had those anxious feelings and beliefs involving money and self worth. From there I got a copy of Mandy Evans book, "Emotional Options" and then signed up with several other websites including Carol Tuttle, Joan Sotkins, Joe Rubino, and others that dealt with money issues.
One issue that finally came to light was the fear of the stock market that I inherited from my father who was afraid of investing in the stock market. I related investing in the Stock Market to all investing and the mention of the word investing became a taboo word in my subconscious as it was trying to protect me.
That led to the uncovering of related fear brought on by a bible verse I heard as a child about the Land owner that gave his servants lots to invest. One he gave only 1 lot and another he gave 2 lots, and another he gave 4 lots. While the preacher was telling the story he was very discriptive and used very graphic words to illustrate his points so after praising the first two servants he came to the last servant and related how that servant had taken his lot, and being fearful of losing it, he just buried it. Having already developed a slight fear of investing, I thought that might not be a bad idea. But when the preacher started in telling how the Land Owner had described the last servant as being a worthless, and no good, It put a fear in me that I buried as I had made the same decision as the servant.
Wow, when this finally came to light, what a revelation it was and released an entirely different outlook on life. What a change in mindset. I have been using he EFT method of clearing for sometime now and what a difference it makes. I intend to continue my education in this field ultimately want to be not only a practitioner, but also become certified to help others and even teach it to other practitioners.

Listen To Your Heart - Trust Your Instincts
There is no doubt that one of the major problems in our society is that people do not know who they are and never seem to be able to find themselves, continue to struggle through life playing the role of the victim, searching for whatever will make them feel better or give them temporary relief from the struggles, heartache and pressures of daily living.
One of our greatest emotional needs is to be accepted. Loneliness is so painful that people will try anything to relieve it. They take drugs, they get drunk. They go through long lists of short-lived dating relationships. Another reason is that our society teaches the philosophy that happiness comes from whatever product is being marketed or you have to look a certain way; that our problems are the result of what others are doing to us; and the programming we internalize through the media, songs and other means tell us that "Life Ain't Easy" and you "Can't Always Get What You Want", You can't be happy until you get.....whatever.
A few years ago, Dr Phil wrote a book, about the time his TV show first aired. The book was entitled, "The Self Matters" A book designed to help people figure out who they were and discover their authentic self, and use that information to overcome underlying obstacles and self sabotaging behavior.
I have also studied work from Dr. Bill Ferguson, a Houston family counselor and therapist, especially his book's "Heal The Hurt That Sabotages Your Life" and "Miracles Are Guaranteed" along with his workshop "Return To The Heart." All designed to help you get in touch with your inner self, identify those things that are giving you a distorted view or perception of reality based on your own personal interpretations of life as you perceive it, then help you differentiate between those beliefs that are only a belief and not a fact, and the truth.
In a recent television episode of Oprah, her guest, Dr Marcus Buckingham, conducted a workshop with Oprah and several other selected participants, in using your own instincts to figure out how to identify and develop your own strengths and talents to enhace your life, instead of society's manipulating you into spending enourmous amounts of energy to identify and correct flaws while your strengths and talents lie dormant. Marcus Buckingham's book's First, Break All The Rules" and "Now, Discover Your Strength's" focus on programming techniques to think outside the box and start identifying and developing your own unique talents and strengths.
During my lifetime, I have had moments where my instincts were screaming, telling me of impending doom, that I needed to take action to avert some unfortunate occurance, sometimes I listened and sometimes I didn't.
As part of my own personal growth, I have learned the importance of regular timely meditation so I have started a daily routine of prayer and meditation where I focus on getting clear, calm, centered to be able to listen and hear what my inner self and or heart is telling me.
Dr. Joe Vitale, in his book, The 'Attractor Factor", stresses the importance of meditation and using it in getting clear of those things that your inner self is telling you, in the way of an excuse or other limiting belief disquised as a reason standing in the way of your success. Also listening to your inner self and taking inspired action or acting on those inner nudges directing you to do things that may seem outragous.

You Create Your World
Last week while in a classroom at one of the different schools where I substitute teach, I read a passage posted on a bulletin board. Its message, while profound, I found it to be slightly different than the teachings of some of my own mentors.
It read, "Although your circumstances may not be your fault, they are your responsibility to overcome."
From my own life experiences and from the teachings I have received, it is true in part, but it is also a belief that can lead in a direction away from the kind of life you may want and are working hard to achieve.
The part about "your responsibility to overcome" is true enough, but the circumstances, in all probability, are also your responsibility as well in some direct or indirect manifestation due to the energy you are projecting to the universe activating the Universal Law of Attraction.
The Universal Law of Attraction, is much like a rubber band, attracting those things that your conscious mind, your feelings and yes even your subconscious, are dwelling on, with the most powerful being your subsconscious beliefs followed by your feelings.
Your subconscious beliefs are who you are. They are the set of beliefs that you have developed since birth based on your personal life experiences and your own personal interpretation of those experiences. This is what drives and runs your life and is what you use to make choices and base your decisions on.
Unfortunately, our culture has programmed most of us into believing things that are simply not true. Our life experiences, expecially when we were young, can play a major role causing us to lock onto misbeliefs that give us a profoundly distorted view of reality. Are you currently harboring a deep rooted fear such as a fear of flying, a fear of driving, or even a fear of a cat or dog or some other fear that keeps you from doing things that most consider a normal everyday activity. In most cases, they stem from a childhood event or occurance that frightened you and left an emotional scar that manifested in you a misbelief that you now harbor.
Most of us at one time or another have been confronted by someone who seems totally "out of control". A boss, a co-worker, a road rage situation, or maybe you yourself have 'lost it' and become emotionally enraged or angry. Believe it or not, it is not what happened that caused the emotional outburst, but rather an emotional pain from the past that was triggered of the person getting angry. I have heard people say, 'Yes I have hot buttons, but others keep pushing them." Unfortunately, the people you say are pushing them, are only doing what they do, but in fact you are pushing the buttons yourself, because of a sensitivity of the circumstances that is being activated by your own fears and fighting the truth of some misbelief that you have accepted as reality such as feelings of not being good enough, unworthy, being stupid, or a fear of failure or even a fear of success.
Until you uncover those distorted views and bring those distorted misbeliefs from your subconscious to your conscious and confront them as being false and detach that emotional part of the equation that is reactivating your fear, they will continue to plague you and can actually attract or bring to you those things or circumstances in your life you don't want causing tremendous suffering and heartache. They will continually keep being put "In Your Face" so to speak until they are confronted. Each time this happens and the fear is reactivated, it is a blessing in disguise, a chance for you to handle this fear once and for all so it no longer has its grip on you, and your circumstances will get better.
